Warning Description: Winter Storm Warning
Warning Date: 3:42 PM EST on February 8, 2010
WarningSum:...Winter Storm Warning In Effect From 6 Am Tuesday To 7 Am Est
Thursday...
Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow which is in effect from 6 am
Tuesday to 7 am EST Thursday for the Tennessee border counties...as
well as Buncombe and northern Jackson counties.
Precipitation will develop across the North Carolina mountains
tonight. Precipitation should begin as snow and transition to a
mix of snow and sleet and rain by mid day Tuesday. During Tuesday
afternoon...temperatures will begin to fall and precipitation will
mainly be snow. Moist cold air is forecast to push across the
region during the late Tuesday night...and snowfall rates will
increase significantly. Snow will continue through Wednesday and
Wednesday night...while winds increase and become and gusty...
reaching 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph. By the time snow ends
Thursday morning...snowfall accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are
possible.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight...
food...and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
